These are quite old models of mine, but much loved and many times fielded in battle in my study at home ... against Sigil's perfidious eldar, tyranids and necrons.
I really like how you did the eyes! Much better than the greenish-yellow so many do. It almost makes me want to switch to yellow eyes...
Also, really like that kneepad! Oh, and the freehand for the Salamander heads, I remember we talked about how you made them a bit more square. I must say I really approve of them!
Thanks for that comment, it's nice to read someone say that.
I've approached the eyes a variety of ways but it adds up to making them as intensely yellow as I can and rimming them with red.
The Salamanders scheme as I have it with Armageddon-themed bases is built on a vein of yellow. By that I mean yellow is in everything: in the green, in the gold, in the browns on the base and in the eyes. Most other things are silver or black or red.
The kneepad is a Bretonnian part. In the new codex there is a showpiece model of a Crimson Fist captain (actually the chapter master when it was first showcased in White Dwarf) which uses these parts on both knees, but cut in a way that they are more integral to the model, whereas mine is just meant to be some retro-armour honour shield. That's an amazing model just from the point of view of what other things the hobbyist has mixed in. I'm hoping to have a Salamander of that quality some day.

Great to finally get to see them, thank you!
