ahhhh...The Chaos Gods speak clearly to me now....

I have succumbed to the whispers of the dark gods and am building a Warriors of Chaos army.

Actually it's been in my mind to do a Norscan themed army for years but the rules weren't really there in the form I wanted. The decision by the powers at Games Workshop to split mortals, beasts and daemons has played into this idea wonderfully.

Visually at least it will look somewhere between Undivided and Khorne in allegiance. I like the no-nonsense martial hue of Khorne, and I have started to paint them with iron-like armour but all warm colours otherwise. The shields are painted a mix of Tin Bitz and Blood Red with red-tainted gold detail. The fur mantle of the cloaks is Dheneb Stone washed with Gryphone Sepia and touched up with Bleached Bone.
As it's developed for the dismounted Chaos warriors, this impression is vaguely like the way Roman Legionaries are usually imagined by Hollywood, that is with a lot of red, which actually may not be entirely historical according to recent theories. So much like comic book Vikings but with what could almost be late Roman armour.

I intend this to be my main Warhammer fantasy army eventually.

The camera is coming...
then it's just a matter of working out Blogger.

Hi gobsamsha,

I'm looking forward to this because I am also contemplating collecting Warriors of Chaos so I'm interested to see what you make of them. From sticking them together, painting them and fielding them in battle.

PS. You'll soon get the hang of blogging. Feel free to ask if you have any questions, I've been at it for a year or so now.

Nice to meet you Sigmar.
Thanks for the offer of assistance.
I once pounded my desk at work in frustration over my recalcitrant keyboard till I realised I had left my number lock off... that's how abysmally dumb I can be with machines.

All I've got so far is the Warriors of Chaos regiment and they are fun models to paint.
Fun in that they are big, have no really delicate parts and they just 'feel' good.
They are very easy to put together and there's no issue in ranking them up. They are front, back, head, and arms (shields attached) - that's it, yet they are very detailed. I'll get into more detail as I go.

Appreciate your interest.

Thanks good to hear. I found the Grave Guard a bit of a pain in the neck to stick together, also my standard bearers have the habit of toppling forward - even before they are engaged by the enemy :)

Also my zombies sometimes get in each others way when ranked up so it's nice to hear the Warriors of Chaos form orderly files :)
